ISIS SERVICES OPENS STATE-OF-THE-ART FACILITY IN SAN CARLOS

Berkeley, CA, April 23, 2008 – ISIS Services, LLC, a leading contract research organization, announced the opening of its new state-of-the-art facility in San Carlos, CA as part of the continued expansion of its operations.  The new world-class campus will provide ISIS Services with an additional base to increase its presence in Northern California and enable it to better serve its medical device, pharmaceutical and biotechnology community clients nationwide.

With over 22,000 square feet, ISIS Services’ San Carlos location will offer the latest in experimental surgery capabilities, state-of-the-art equipment and a highly-trained veterinary, medical and operations team.  The facility offers four surgical suites, necropsy rooms, surgery scrub areas and large holding rooms for GLP and non-GLP studies.  Specialized equipment includes four OEC C-arms, a cardiopulmonary bypass machine and multiple ultrasound units with TEE, IVUS, ICE and transthoracic capabilities.  Video conferencing capabilities are available in each operating room, conference room and throughout the facility, allowing clients and remote audiences to review ongoing studies.

Dr. Jorge L. Garcia, DVM, ISIS’ Chief Scientific Officer, will be overseeing the scientific and operational activities of the San Carlos campus.  Prior to his role with ISIS Services, Dr. Garcia co-founded the first contract research organization to provide capabilities in comparative medicine, surgery and pathology. 

To further complement this recent growth, ISIS Services announces the addition of a seasoned team of renowned veterinarians, medical doctors, technicians and operations professionals to its San Carlos facility.  Serving as Chief of Experimental Surgery and Medicine is Dr. Felix Vega, a Veterinary Medical Doctor with extensive experience in medical device industry, as well as CRO and university settings.  Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the San Carlos facility as Director of Operations is Sarah Borjal.  Ms. Borjal previously served as the Supervisor of the Veterinary Medical Unit at the VA Palo Alto Campus, as well as holding a key operations role in the RA/QA Department at Covance prior to the VA in Palo Alto.
