Jabir Akhtar, M.D., has completed medical training and residency at Akron General Medical Center, Akron Ohio in Family Medicine. Dr. Akhtar has five years of clinical experience, along with medical research, bio-medical device development and bio-tech experience. Dr. Akhtar has worked closely with multiple medical device companies in the pre-clinical development phase. Dr. Akhtar has also taught clinical and evidence-based medicine to intern physicians and medical students at North East Ohio, College of Medicine.
As Pre-clinical Director, Dr. Akhtar provides surgical and technical expertise and training for investigative clientele at ISIS. He also provides surgical and medical consultation expertise to medical devices companies in their protocol development process and assists in a large variety of experimental surgeries.
Since the joining the ISIS staff, Dr. Akhtar has built an impressive foundation of CRO experience in both GLP and non-GLP studies. He has served as Study Director, medical consultant and lead surgeon on studies ranging from transmycardial revascularization to radiofrequency tissue ablation device development.
Dr. Akhtar has perfected several surgical techniques that are instrumental in placing medical devices in thoracic cavity on a beating heart. His ongoing interests include stem cell research, nano-medicine and perfecting new techniques for cardiovascular instrumentations. His expertise includes TEE, Endoscopic procedures, Ultra sounds, Echocardiogram, Laparoscopic procedure, Flex Sigmoidoscopy, Colonoscopy and minimum invasive procedures.
